About & how the score is computed

This tool reads rksys.dat locally in your browser and shows, for each license, the stats used by Retro Rewind’s VS ranking alongside the minimum value each stat would have to reach (if changed in isolation) to hit the next rank threshold.

  • Score = clamp(α·M + β, 0, 100) where M is a weighted mix of normalized metrics: VR (60%), VS win% (15%), 1st-place count (15%), distance travelled (5%), distance while 1st (5%).
  • For the rank score, VR counts up to 100,000, 1st places up to 2,250, distance up to 40,000 m, and 1st-place distance up to 10,000 m. Going above those maximums does not raise the score further. Win% uses 0–100, or 45% if you have no VS races.
  • Your stats are turned into a score from 0 to 100, and that score decides your rank. The promotion points are 0, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 94, and 100. Once you have at least 100 VS races, any score below 24 is still rank 1.
  • Per-stat notes for max rank (with other stats near their effective caps): VR effectively caps for the ranking model around 100,000 VR ; VS Win% is anchored around 55%; there is no simple hard minimum for Times 1st or distance metrics — they still help, but strong VR and Win% dominate and can achieve top rank even if 1st-place and distance values are not maxed.
